Addiction and Recovery

This group is built around the Seeking Safety curriculum, designed to help individuals who are navigating the complex journey of recovery from addiction and trauma. Through a combination of evidence-based strategies and compassionate support, we will work together to build coping skills, increase emotional awareness, and develop healthier ways to manage stress and triggers. The group will focus on safety, self-care, and creating a sense of empowerment, while addressing the underlying trauma that often accompanies addiction. In a safe and non-judgmental space, participants will explore how to create a balanced, resilient foundation for long-term recovery and healing. Each session will provide tools for managing both the emotional and practical challenges of addiction recovery, helping you to move forward with a sense of strength and hope.

Anger Management

The objective of anger management is to diminish emotional responses and physiological arousal caused by anger. It is impractical to eliminate or evade the sources or individuals that provoke anger, nor is it possible to alter them; however, one can acquire skills to regulate reactions effectively. The primary aim is to assist individuals in identifying triggers and early warning signs of anger, developing coping mechanisms, and learning how to express anger in ways that do not cause harm.

The 4 C's of anger management—Control, Commitment, Challenge, and Confidence—constitute a framework commonly applied in mental toughness and self-improvement. These principles aid individuals in managing anger by fostering emotional control, dedication to goals, embracing challenges, and building self-assurance. Anger management focuses on imparting techniques such as relaxation, mindfulness, and cognitive-behavioral therapy to help participants recognize anger triggers, manage their emotions, and develop constructive communication skills.

Caregiver Support

Caregiving can be emotionally demanding, and this group will provide an environment for caregivers to share their feelings, frustrations, and successes with others who can relate. One of the missions of this group is to create a safe and supportive space for individuals providing care to loved ones who are unable to care for themselves due to cognitive, developmental, physical, or medical conditions. Members can connect, share experiences, and receive both practical and emotional support. By engaging in these activities, caregivers can alleviate stress, reduce anxiety, and mitigate the risk of burnout. This group offers a community where caregivers can access understanding, advice, and resources, ultimately assisting them in navigating the complexities and rewards of caregiving. Caregivers can learn from one another's experiences and discover healthy strategies to manage the stress and challenges associated with caregiving.

Redefining Strength

This 6-week support group is dedicated to helping Black women who have internalized the "Strong Black Woman" stereotype in exploring and redefining what strength truly means for them. Our focus will be on finding a healthy balance between strength and vulnerability, allowing space to heal the parts of yourself that you may have learned to hide or suppress from the world. We will work together to challenge the societal expectations placed on Black women and shift away from the limiting identity that society often imposes. By closely examining your unique history, culture, values, and personal desires, we will reframe how you view and navigate the burdens you carry in family, work, and relationships. Through this process, you’ll discover that your strength can be expansive and multidimensional, and you deserve to show up as your full, authentic self.
